SMR Gshock

Origin of SMR Gshock

Born late 80’s in North Philadelphia and raised in the boogie down bronx during the early ’90s, SMR Gshock’s journey is one of resilience and creativity. Growing up in environments where the culture often pushed young people towards gang life, drug dealing, rapping, or playing ball, he chose a path that was more productive and less soul-intrusive. Moving to North Carolina in the mid-’90s, he quickly gained notoriety as a top basketball player, graduating high school in 2006. His athletic prowess took him from Juco to Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), where he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business management.

After high school, SMR Gshock found solace and purpose in music, using it as a means to stay above the negative influences around him. Creating music for himself became a way to express his experiences and faith, helping him navigate the challenges of his environment. Balancing a 9-5 job, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to create a record label in 2021. Now, as an independent artist, he continues to inspire and uplift through his music and ventures. As SMR Gshock says, “With discipline and faith, I’ve learned that no matter where you come from, God will guide you through life’s toughest challenges. If you can rise above your circumstances, you can conquer anything.”

Origin of Studio 6Four

The journey of Studio 6Four began unofficially in 2016, under the name Studio 6. This name was a nod to SMR Gshock’s fraternity number, as he crossed into Kappa Alpha Psi in 2010 as the 6th in line. The studio served as a creative haven for SMR Gshock and his friends, where they could experiment with music and share their passion for hip-hop.

In 2020, SMR Gshock faced a profound personal loss with the passing of his mother. This event marked a turning point in his life and inspired him to honor her memory in a meaningful way. His mother was born in 1964, and in her honor, he decided to rename the studio to Studio 6Four.

In 2021, Studio 6Four became an official record label, dedicated to promoting creativity, faith, and growth. The label not only serves as a platform for talented artists but also stands as a tribute to SMR Gshock’s mother, whose spirit and influence continue to inspire his journey
